News in brief.
Much to my astonishment, the last-ditch email I sent David has elicited a response – I still have very little idea what’s happened as he was quite mysterious about it, frankly, but at least we’ve established some form of contact, and he’s emailed back saying he’ll get Jules to get in touch with us. So, that’s a big relief – I really hate conflict, particularly when it involves people I consider friends (albeit in a ‘I may voodoo you soon’ manner), and I’ll be very happy if we can resolve this amicably; it’s never good when you find yourself idly wondering if the police will be able to give you reliable advice on something, is it? So, fingers crossed, this will be sorted soon.
In other news, I am running away from home again. The kitchen is nearing completion, but the dust, grime and hours needed simply aren’t really working with a small girl who isn’t very well and a sleep-deprived mama, so it’s off to Quercus’s mother we go, we go, yo ho ho. Or something. This means no internets for a few days, but probably lots of knitting; I’ve finished that cardigan shown in progress in the last post, and am suitably stunned at my own wondrousness (er… ‘luck’ might be closer to the truth), so I’m now casting around for something new to knit. Current possibilities are, well, largely hat-related, although truth be told I’m a bit bored with hat-knitting; somehow I have accrued lots and lots of small quantities of very pretty wool, which means lots of small projects, really, unless I buy yet more wool, when what I really want is something more substantial. The only candidate for such an enterprise is, at the moment, a huge knot of wool which looks as if the cats had scrumbled at it for at least two weeks prior to its being forgotten in the attic for about six months. Ahem. This is rather dampening my appetite for starting, shall we say.

Hoo-ho.
And you? What’s going on in your neck of the woods?
May I recommend using the small remnants of wool in a blanket? Either the traditional patchwork granny squares, or Attic24′s ripple blanket which I have found to be slightly hypnotic if gazed at long enough…
That’s great news re: David’s response to your email. Hopefully things (ie the caravan) will get moving soon!
sweet photos! depending on how small the remnants are, you could try a granny-square afghan/blanket. very portable, & colors of your own choosing! have fun on your ‘vacation’. kudos to quercus for his ability to stick to projects (something i have a tendency to lack). good luck w/the caravan…
Those knits are great! Inspires me to learn how to create such things : )
Very good news indeed re the caravan silliness. All so unnecessary! In this neck of the woods, I am considering felting myself some indoor boots.
or a stripey jumper if the wool is roughly the same weight? Pick a simple shape and colour combine to your heart’s content. My son is too old for that sort of stuff now so take advantage while you can!
That cardi is super, well done!
Hope the caravan moves soon.
I am really glad you might be getting close to a resolution.
I love your blog and I hope you don’t mind but I nominated you for the beautiful blogger award.

Very happy to hear that you’ve finally received a response about the homeless caravan. Yay!
And that girl of yours looks so deliciously lovely in that cardie. I am very impressed by your knitting skills. did you make the hat too? Love that hat.
Yay, snowdrops. We’re buried under 20 inches of snow right now, so those flowers are like a breath of spring. And I totally adore the witchling’s hat and cardigan. It looks like she’s wearing a rich swirl of pomagranate plum icecream on her head. Cardigan looks soooo soft.
Hello,
How about knitting ear warmers for the cats. Hysterical!
Pattern to be found at http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=9945.0.
If all else fails you can knit a “Tow Away” sign for the caravan:)
I somehow posted this comment on the blog entry below – it makes sense here on this one… so here it is again. I couldn’t understand why it had disappeared at first…
Glad to hear about David and the response, even if a bit cryptic. I hope that the sojourn over with the MIL did the trick?
We are having a hard time with friends and their stack of serious illnesses. It has been a very tricky start to 2010, really hoping for better news from them – and no more from others. I really am counting my own blessings right now and trying to be as supportive as I can to my lovely people who are suffering right now.
Things can only get better, I really, really hope!
How about knitting some toys for the little one?
I grew up with my gran (my mother hates to knit, usually) knitting me all sorts of toys out of remnants. I got a lovely butterfly pattern out of a knitting mag last year that uses up lots of little remnants.
Just an idea. Incidentally, the toys my gran knitted are still with me and will be passed on my kids (if I have any) or my assorted nieces, nephews or goddess-children.
