On frustration.

So.
The letter that we sent recorded delivery to David, he who hath saddled us (apparently) with a caravan we don’t want, don’t own, and want gone, has come back to us – the post office attempted to deliver it, left a card saying they’d tried, and then it waited for two weeks in their depot thingy before wending its way back to us.
ARGH.
Is so annoying.
In the meantime, I’ve tried emailing David again to let him know that if we can’t raise him by post or phone, we will end up going round there, either to tackle him face to face or to find out if his landlord knows where the fuck he’s gone. It’s all so bloody unnecessary. That’s what pisses me off. It’s not like we want anything from him now – that ship sailed bloody months ago – but you’d think someone we once considered a good friend would have the decency to pass on a phone number, at least, wouldn’t you? I mean, obviously we did something to piss him off, but surely it must be clear that we’ve no idea what, and, if he ever does read this blog still, that whatever it was was inadvertent; I just can’t for the life of me work out what has happened here.
Fucking caravan.

Fucking prospect of over an hour’s drive each sodding way to see if he’s moved.

If he isn’t responding to emails or recorded delivery letters, he has had fair warning of its disposal, and probably can’t be bothered.
Check the legal niceties (I’m sure MaryJane or Dr.Rob on http://www.downsizer.net can help there-for free!) just to cover your backs and go for it! OK this gives you the cost of getting rid of it, but it sounds as if it would be worth it…or you could Freecycle it!!
Could you post a message on his forum? Collect your caravan by x or we will give it away ….

I have no idea where you stand legally on this. I know you had advice from Citizen’s Advice, but I was concerned about the veracity of that when you mentioned it before (I’ve heard of several people being given duff info by them before).
Do you have legal cover on your household insurance? Most give you at least a legal helpline where you can get free advice from a legally qualified person.

I like what Susan and BW suggested about posting a notice on his forum. But I’m no help with legals either so couldn’t say where you stand on this. You’ve obviously done your damnedest trying to reach him though! When is enough, enough? Crapdom.
Glad to hear about David and the response, even if a bit cryptic. I hope that the sojourn over with the MIL did the trick?
We are having a hard time with friends and their stack of serious illnesses. It has been a very tricky start to 2010, really hoping for better news from them – and no more from others. I really am counting my own blessings right now and trying to be as supportive as I can to my lovely people who are suffering right now.
Things can only get better, I really, really hope!
