And now…

… there will be a brief interval, during which I shall finish copy-editing two theses, one on the history of art, the other on nineteenth-century poetry. We are also fortunate in that Quercus’s mother is with us for a few days – I cannot express sufficiently how nice it is to have someone else to bring you tea, provide a tissue for the small girl’s nose, do the washing-up and generally provide a much-needed third pair of hands, while Quercus works on the big cupboard which will, when complete, cover about half of the red wall in the kitchen.

Also, there will be chocolate malt cake. Oh so very yes.

  1. ~oh how lucky are you to be graced with the presence of an extra set of hands…we are all down with sniffles and fevers and noses so raw…rest well with the help and savor the cake…sounds quite tasty…brightest blessings~

  2. *sends virtual hot chocolate and a nice sit-down*

I feel for you – we seem to have been besieged by low-level illness since the beginning of last autumn; we’re hoping that the next few days will let us breath out a bit, and maybe even shake off the usual cold/cough combination which is lingering at present…

  4. Chocolate malt cake, you say? Recipe? As for striped leggings for big girls, I was inspired by the witchlings lovely leg warmers and found this place: http://www.sockdreams.com/. I ordered four pair!

Best of luck cleaning up the theses (or would that be thesi?).

  5. Oh good! Well done on the help front! It can make a load of difference.

And all the best with getting those theses done.

  7. Diet? ;)

  8. Did someone say ‘chocolate malt cake?’
    Really?
Do tell us more. Even I might be tempted to try that one! :)

  9. I love the way this has polarised comments into the ‘cake!’ and ‘diet?’ camps. A recipe will follow as soon as Quercus relinquishes control of the kitchen; at the moment, there’s a scaffold tower in the middle of the room, which hampers one’s creativity, culinarily speaking, somewhat. The inch of sawdust don’t help, really, either.

  10. i always use leg warmers during the winter months to feel comfy.”‘.
